Glances (1989)

A minimalist epic – a theme and variations on a single brushstroke, with a great deal more discovered from it than one would have thought possible. Though we never learn the identity of the film's protagonist it develops a definite character and personality – sometimes mercurial, sometimes determined – which makes it as endearing as the human characters in many other films.
